Yahweh, the master of sound, songwriting and music inspires, grows and strengthens us anew as we sing praise to Him. In our minds. In our spirits. In our souls. In our bodies.
He has intentionally designed music to move us, to transport us into a place of unique beauty and grace as His instruments reach within us.
"Sing to Yahweh a new song, for He has done wonderful things! His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him." Psalm 98:1
As followers of our Messiah, we are called to continue the old Hebrew tradition by 'singing a new song to the Lord'. Serving Him with gladness.
Both newly written or introduced songs can glorify our God while building us up! However, new songs are not meant to replace or take the place of old songs and hymns. Here's why ...
Old songs are 'new' to those hearing them for the first time.
Old songs may become 'new' when sung differently.
Our old songs and hymns become genuinely new songs when some new truth is discovered by the minds and hearts of those singing them for the first time. Let us enjoy God's grace and love by letting Him put a new song in our hearts according to His will and way!
May we be ever found 'Letting the word of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one and other with all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in our hearts to our Father/God'. (Colossians 3:16)
